Guinness World Record Attempt and Fundraiser

Norm Bartie, is currently attempting an official Guinness World Record! He has driven a backhoe from Brisbane up to Townsville, down inland through Toowoomba and on to Albury and Wagga Wagga and then to Parliament House, Canberra.

Although this is an official Guinness World Record Attempt, more importantly the trip is to raise awareness and funding for children who have been affected by domestic violence, loss and trauma.

If you've seen any news, you would be aware of the ‘epidemic’ that has been labelled in Australia at the moment in terms of domestic violence, abuse and neglect that our children are suffering from. One quarter of our children are/have suffered before the age of 10.

Norm has been helping children like this for many many years, but it was only recently that he established our Not For Profit - It's NOT Your Fault 4 Kids Incorporated. We are very passionate about helping children, as many children who have been through domestic violence, and suffered loss and trauma through this, have the core belief that whatever has happened is THEIR FAULT (for example, "if I had not had that fight with my brother, Dad wouldn't have gotten angry and beaten Mum up so badly that she died"). It may seem an extreme example, but unfortunately we hear stories like this too often, and we have worked closely with many, many children and young adults who hold very strongly to the belief that whatever has happened is THEIR FAULT. Our work is to help them understand that the abuse they have been through is NOT their fault, and to lead them into self-awareness and self-empowerment, so they can move on with their own lives, without holding to the guilt they have felt so strongly.

We would love to have the Albury and Wagga communities involved. We have a Go Fund Me page. The trip has now been sponsored by Laing O'Rourke and iLH-Australia Group, so all funds donated now go straight to the 2019 retreats and workshops for children (these are completely free for the children/families, and include ongoing support).

Norm was on the 7 News  last night (Monday) and in Wagga Wagga’s local paper today.
