The Dragons are coming!

The weekend of 7th and 8th March 2020 on Gateway Lakes, Dragon Boat Victoria in partnership with City of Wodonga are bringing Dragon Boat racing to the community for the Victorian Championships.

Over 500 paddlers from metropolitan and regional clubs in Victoria will compete in distances of 2000m, 500m and the sprint format of 200m with ages ranging from 10 to 80. 2 local clubs the Brave Hearts and Warriors will also compete.

The weekend is also an opportunity for members of the community to experience watching the sport of dragon boat racing where the focus on teamwork will reward you with success. Dragon boat racing has cultural origins in ancient China and has evolved into a highly competitive sport right across the globe.

City of Wodonga - Team Leader Arts & Events Duryarne Streat said “the Council are pleased to be supporting this event. “We are committed to attracting events to the City and this will be a great economic boost to Wodonga over the weekend. And will be a great opportunity to promote the sport.”

Miss Streat said the Gateway Lakes will be full of activity over the weekend and encouraged locals to go and see what Dragon Boat Racing is all about.

Saturday racing will commence at 12pm and Sunday will commence at 8am.
