Weaving Dreams and Aspirations
Details:
LAO TAPESTRY An exhibition curated by Valerie Kirk, the head of textiles at the ANU School of Art. Enjoy fine textiles from the rich artistic traditions of Lao PDR where the weaver invests her life in the fabric reflecting her hopes, dreams and sense of self in the world. The official opening will be on Friday, June 26 at 5:30pm, followed by an artist talk on Saturday, June 27 at 11am.

School holiday activities for primary aged children, grades one to six. Kids will have fun making a variety of puppets. Be creative and make a sock puppet with attitude. Try a colourful paper plate puppet or get your fingers working making some character finger puppets. Bookings essential. An exciting 3 day event featuring craft and needlework supplies, fabrics, stamping, scrapbooking, glass art and more. Woodworking and craft demonstrations, kids craft activities. Unique products for the house and garden, designer clothing & jewellery, gourmet body care products are also featured. Craft Workshops in an array of topics. Something for every member of the family. The show runs from 10am - 5pm Friday and Saturday, 10am - 4pm Sunday. Entry: Adults - $6.60 Seniors - $6.00 Children under 16 free. With a multi day pass available for $1.50 after initial entry fee is paid to take advantage of all the wonderful workshops.

An exciting musical and theatrical journey by ten world class sopranos performing all time favourite songs and arias from the Beatles to Puccini. Powerful and exhilarating it is Directed by and featuring the critically acclaimed Soprano Penny Pavlakis, former principal artist with Opera Australia and winner of International singing competitions in classical and contemporary music including International Star search USA, and described by her peers as 'The Singers Singer'. A working history with some of the worlds biggest names including Baz Luhrman, Nick Enright, Dame Joan Sutherland, Richard Bonynge , Maestro Carlo Felice Cillario, Richard Hickox, Ray Martin, Darryl Summers, Louis Shelton, Secret Garden and Tommy Tycho.
Indigenous chef and TV personality Mark “Black” Olive returns to the Community Wood Fired Oven to celebrate NAIDOC week. Mark will prepare a feast in front of your eyes using his special range of native herbs and spices and he will talk about how we can all use these in our own cooking at home. The delicious results will be available for tasting. The oven will be open for community baking from 2pm - 4pm. In case of bad weather an undercover area and heating will be provided on site.
