Bonegilla Migrant Experience
The original complex was built as Bonegilla Army Camp during the Second World War. It became the Bonegilla Migrant Reception and Training Centre in 1947, and until 1971 served as Australia’s largest and longest operating migrant centre. It was the first Australian home for more than 200,000 post war migrants from over 50 countries.
Block 19 has been assessed by the Australian Heritage Council as having outstanding heritage value to the nation and is included on the National Heritage List.

Lake Hume
One of the borders most defining features is undoubtedly Lake Hume, keeper of water for irrigation and haven for recreational boaters, skiers, swimmers and anglers.

A walk along the Hume dam wall is a must do whilst in Albury-Wodonga.
The wall features a walkway along the top that is safe for children to ride bikes along, offering outstanding views of Lake Hume.

Murray River
The Murray River is undoubtedly Albury-Wodonga’s biggest attraction.
Head to the Wodonga Visitor Information Centre for information on the best swimming, fishing and boating locations.
You can even hire bikes from the VIC and explore the Murray River and Albury-Wodonga on two wheels.

Belvoir Park
Belvoir Park features a super children’s playground, the Sumsion Gardens and the Off-Leash Dog Park.
This park is very picturesque and offers a walking track around a large lake with ducks, black swans and geese.
The playground will have the children entertained for hours with a mass of climbing structures, swings, musical instruments, slides and mirrors.
The large open space also features public toilets, baby change facilities, shelters and picnic and barbecue facilities.

Huon Hill
If you’re looking for that ‘wow’ factor on your picnic, head up to Huon Hill and enjoy the superb 360 degree views of Albury-Wodonga, Lake Hume and the snowfields.
Enjoy bird watching, walking tracks, sightseeing and picnic facilities with several lookouts and information boards to direct you.

Hume and Hovell Walking Track
Follows the famous footsteps of Hamilton Hume and William Hovell on their exhibition to Port Phillip in 1824.
The ‘Tunnel Road to Albury’ route of the 440 km track ends in Albury-Wodonga.

The Hume Murray Farmers’ Market is held every second Saturday between 8am and noon, allowing you to sample the fresh produce and prepared food that is made right on our doorstep.
You will also find GIGS Fine Art Gallery, Creators’ Artspace and the Woodcrafters Cottage at Gateway Village on the edge of the Murray River.
The friendly staff at the Wodonga Visitor Information Centre will provide you with ideas and all of the information you need not only for Albury-Wodonga, but the surrounding towns and regions.

The Bandiana Army Museum, located just out of Wodonga, is one of the largest and most diversified army museums in Australia.

Hume Murray Farmers’ Market
Head down to the Hume Murray Farmers’ Market (every second Saturday) between 8am and noon at Gateway Village on the Lincoln Causeway and experience the fresh produce and prepared foods grown and made on our doorstep.

Bicycle paths
Take a lazy ride around the fantastic bike paths along the Murray and along the causeway from Wodonga to Albury.
Run, ride or walk on the High Country Rail Trail along the shores of Lake Hume.
The High Country Rail Trail is one of Australia’s premier rail trails stretching from Wodonga to Tallangatta.
The 10km of paved track in Willow Park, Wodonga, and the paved path stretching from the Albury Swimming Pool to Sumsion Gardens in Belvoir Park are perfect for roller blading, cycling and riding scooters.
Wodonga’s Willow Park skate bowl is also great spot for the kids to show off their skills on scooter, skate board, roller blades or BMX.
